Every year after the Christmas tree comes down, the shiny baubles are put away and the inevitable mess of sparkles is swept up I’m invigorated and ready to freshen up our home. As much as I look forward to pulling out the boxes and boxes…and boxes of Christmas decor each year and decking our halls, I always look forward to packing it all away again for another year. I get such a cleansing feeling from it, it always feels like a fresh start.
I like to take my time choosing new pieces for each room and rearranging what we already own. I’m in no hurry to make sure each room looks “perfect”, and instead I enjoy the process of breathing new life into our home.
This year I’m keeping in mind how busy we will be in February once our little one decides to arrive so I am thinking ahead to the spring and how I want our home to look. I’m feeling light, bright and airy. I also want to get over my fear of colour and try to incorporate more colour into our home with fun accents and maybe even some paint! That’s a scary thought for me. Maybe I’ll finally get around to painting our living room and dining room…
Anyways, back to the first little corner of our home that has received some love after the holidays! I needed some art for the frame sitting at the desk area in our kitchen. I wanted something that made sense for the kitchen. I found this charming quote from Julia Child and thought it would be perfect for a DIY printable. And anyone that knows us knows how much Nick and I enjoy food, so it seemed to suit us perfectly!
I love how light and bright this little area is and it’s motivated me to continue with the updates around the rest of our house. We’ll be sharing these updates along the way!
If you love this printable as much as I do, you can download and print my design for free. Please use only for personal use, not for sale.
