It’s week two of Calling it Home’s One Room Challenge!
If you missed last week’s post or you haven’t heard of the One Room Challenge before I’ll give you a brief introduction. Twenty talented designers have committed to documenting their progress transforming a room (either one of their own or that of a client) in just six short weeks for the One Room Challenge. Linda at Calling it Home has opened up this event to bloggers as well. We’ve decided to join in on the fun and tackle our master bedroom.
Last week we told you all about our inspiration for designing a beautiful vintage farmhouse look for our bedroom. You can read all about it here.
This is the mood board I created to show the light and airy feel we are trying to achieve. We want a bright room, with a touch of vintage charm.
I will apologize in advance because this won’t be the most exciting post ever. We really haven’t done much in the way of actual projects yet, so I don’t have much to show you. We are still in the planning stage of this transformation.
Right now my main focus is the walls and painting. I have three ideas circling in my head about how I want to approach our walls. The first is to simply paint the bedroom a different colour. In that case I’m leaning towards Benjamin Moore’s Silver Satin. It’s a beautiful neutral that works well with the other colours in our home.
The second idea is to add chair rail three quarters of the way up the wall. I would leave the lower half of the walls as they are, painted in Benjamin Moore’s Shaker Beige. I’d paint the chair rail in our trim colour, Albescent by Benjamin Moore and I’d paint the upper section in Cloud White by Benjamin Moore. I think this will add some character to the room, and will help brighten it up too.
The third idea I’m toying with is adding a plank wall behind our bed. I love the way these walls add dimension and texture to a room. And it definitely appeals to my love of everything farmhouse.
I’m such an indecisive person and I just can’t make up my mind. I think I’m leaning more towards option two or three. They will add some much needed charm to our bedroom.
I’ve also scavenged some beautiful vintage finds for our bedroom as well, including an old window and a vintage mirror I plan to spruce up by spray painting in a crisp white.
We still have a lot to tackle before we complete our bedroom transformation, but we are having so much fun with this challenge and can’t wait to see how everything comes together.

Thank you Tera! We are hoping to get to the walls this weekend, it's hard finding the time to get these big projects done with a new baby in the house!
