I can’t believe it’s the weekend again already! I hope everyone has a fun few days ahead of them. We will be spending our time relaxing and catching up with family and friends.
A few weeks ago we toured our kitchen and I talked about our budget-friendly kitchen makeover, so today I’m sharing with you an updated tour of our living and dining room.
Our living room and dining room are one big open space with large windows letting in lots of natural light. We have a gorgeous view of the bay and the most spectacular sunsets in the evenings. It’s where we spend most of our time as a family, entertaining or just relaxing after a long day.
We wanted to keep the room feeling bright and inviting so we stuck to neutral colors throughout. I love having the freedom to add pops of color depending on the season.
The walls are painted Shaker Beige by Benjamin Moore. It’s a beautiful shade that goes well with the creams, greys and wood tones we have throughout the house.
We purchased grey couches from Leon’s and paired them with cream pillows and throws for a cozy feel. We also added creamy white curtains from Ikea. These curtains are my favorite, you can find them in every room of our house (kitchen, dining room, living room, bedroom and nursery). They’re a great length (300 cm so you can hang them close to the ceiling and they will sweep the floor (and probably still require some hemming), they are a beautiful neutral color and you can’t beat the price point. What’s not to love?
My husband built this beautiful rustic industrial coffee table for us, you can get all the details here. Since building it we’ve had so many questions about where we found it that I think we should start taking orders!
About a year ago we decided we needed extra storage for our living room, and something to add a little bit of interest to the room. We bought this Ikea Hemnes TV bench and bookshelves in white stain and it was the perfect choice. They blend seamlessly into our living room, they hide our electronics and I love styling the shelves with our favorite collectibles, photos, and vintage finds.
Our dining room is open to the living room so we continued the same casual feel into this space. I love the neutral color palette, it’s so warm and calming.
Another project the mister completed for me was this awesome industrial pipe shelf. You can read all about how to make your own here. It’s the perfect place to showcase some of our favorite family photos.
We love hosting family holidays and entertaining so we chose a large table from Ikea that would be able to easily accommodate a lot of people. It’s great for hosting large family dinners or creating a beautiful buffet for our holiday parties.
Thanks for stopping by, we hope you love our space as much as we do!

Unfortunately I can't offer you a source for this piece. It has been in our family for a number of years. It was originally stained wood and we painted it a black a few years ago. I hope you can find something similar.
