One of the easiest ways to add a touch of farmhouse style to your home is with lighting. Whether you live in a true to life farmhouse or a new build in the suburbs, updating your light fixtures is a simple way to inject personality and character into your home and create that cozy farmhouse vibe.
Lighting is one of the most important factors in creating a warm ambiance at when the sun goes down and it is a main focal point in a room. It is often overlooked, but it can add or take away from an otherwise beautifully decorated room.
Adding a dimmer switch to any light fixture will also help you adjust the lighting to fit the requirement. On the lowest setting, it creates a warm glow in the room to give you just the right amount of light to move around. Turn it up half way and you get a cozy warmth perfect for a dinner setting. And you can turn it up to full when it’s time to clean up.
We’ve put dimmers in every room of our house and our favorite is the Lutron Maestro Dimmer which can be set to slowly turn on and off when pressed – a great feature we love.
Chandeliers are a great place to start, they are gorgeous, versatile and there’s one for every budget. They look great in any space, so don’t limit yourself to thinking chandeliers only belong in the dining room. They make beautiful statement pieces in a bedroom, office, breakfast nook, and even a mudroom.

I chose these farmhouse chandeliers as my top 10 because I love their simplicity. The subtle mix of natural wood and metal create a timeless rustic look. Each one is beautiful in its own way and would be perfectly at home in any cozy farmhouse – new or old. Which one is your favorite?
