We are slowly beginning to embrace the Christmas holiday around our house, and it’s probably no surprise that decorating for the season is something I always look forward to. I begin by digging through our bins of holiday treasures and scouring my favorite shops for inspiration, and as is typical of me, I am enjoying the process. I am taking my time choosing a color palette and pieces that will help create a cozy and magical retreat for our family this Christmas.
Last year I decorated our home using very neutral and simple decor (you can see last year’s Christmas home tour here), I didn’t stray too far from what I am comfortable and familiar with. But this year I am leaning towards something a little different.
It will be our daughter’s second Christmas but will be the first year she truly understands and appreciates the magic and spirit of the holiday. She is absolutely in awe of sparkling and twinkling Christmas trees and when asked who is coming to town she replies “ho ho ho!”. And that’s why I want to embrace a more traditional holiday home this year.
I am envisioning our cozy little house filled with fresh greenery, lots of candle light and subtle pops of red to create the feeling of an old-fashioned Christmas. I am really looking forward to decorating the newest spaces in our home – the living room and dining room, and I can’t wait to set a beautiful Christmas tablescape on the sweet farmhouse table Nick built for our family.
So when my lovely friend, Kristen of Ella Claire, invited me to join her annual Christmas printable hop again this year, I jumped at the chance to begin playing with the classic holiday look I am hoping to achieve.
I created this sweet Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas printable after getting in the spirit while listening to my favorite Christmas songs. I wanted to design a print that felt classic with a fun little twist, so I added a tartan pattern to the some of the lettering.

Love your printable with the touch of tartan plaid! The college I went to had Scottish roots, so it was all tartan, all the time. Seeing your sign made me think back to the fun times I spent there 😉
