Wow – can you believe Christmas is less than two weeks away? I certainly can’t! We have been so busy embracing every last magical detail of the season that the days seem to be slipping by at a lightning-fast pace.
Our home is decorated with subtle touches of the season, we’ve been baking some of our favorite holiday goodies and there have been many joyful visits with Santa to date. And as Christmas draws nearer, the abundance of holiday parties and get-togethers with our family and friends begins to soar. We will spend afternoons, evenings and late nights indulging in delicious appetizers and hearty meals, and of course, the occasional glass of wine while enjoying the company of our loved ones.
It’s after these busy days leading up to Christmas that we are extra thankful to have this cozy bedroom of ours to unwind in at the end of the day.
After making some recent changes to our bedroom (you can read all about it here), I was so excited to partner with Canadian Tire to bring in a few touches of the Christmas season. It’s always fun decorating new spaces.
I was envisioning a cozy room with fuzzy throws, extra pillows, stockings hung on the fireplace, twinkling lights and an unadorned Christmas tree. And I think I made that vision come to life!
Our beautiful new fireplace got all the trimmings, and I think it’s what makes our bedroom feel so festive.
I started by draping this faux noble fir garland from the mantle. I normally add bunches of fresh greenery to our faux garland, but this one was so full and realistic looking that I didn’t have to.
Once the garland was hung I created symmetry by adding these beautiful aged bronze and glass rectangular cases to either side of the mirror. I love these pieces as they will last throughout the year and from season to season. They are the perfect vessels for holding anything from pretty Christmas ornaments to candles (like I did here) or even potted plants.
Finally, I hung these soft cable knit stockings from the mantle. We are having fun guessing what Santa will fill them with this year!
I have a love for simple, unadorned Christmas trees. I think they look so beautiful and magical when left natural with only the glow of their twinkle lights for decoration. We placed this faux Bromley Fir Potted Christmas tree in a large wicker basket and gave it a home beside our cozy wing back chair. I love walking up the stairs every night to the soft glow of this tree, it really does create such a magical feeling.
The finishing touch is a flocked wreath above our cozy bed.
Like the rest of our home, I kept this space simple and understated, with a few fresh pops of my favorite color, blue. My goal this year was to decorate using pieces that would transition well into the winter once Christmas has passed. It was all about simplicity.
We hope you enjoyed today’s tour!

Hi Kelsie, it’s actually a duvet, and it is from Annie Selke! It’s a favorite of ours! 🙂
