Ever since I created this pretty holiday tablescape I have been smitten with gold accents. It’s a wildly popular trend right now, popping up in almost every new kitchen and bathroom in some form or another. But just like any trend, you need to be smart about how you embrace it.
Adding subtle touches of the metal throughout your home in accents that are inexpensive and can easily be changed once the trend has passed or you tire of it is best. I’ve recently added these pretty gold desk lamps to our kitchen, a modern gold-framed mirror in our dining room and set a pretty spring tablescape using my favorite gold candlesticks.
Round
I simply love the warmth it brings, and I think it adds a feminine, but modern touch to any space.
Rectangle
And although I love gold in all of its forms, one of my favorite ways to incorporate it into our home is with mirrors. Earlier this year we hung a large round mirror with a gold frame above our dining room sideboard, and I think it looks right at home. The secret to avoiding a stuffy or dated look with gold mirrors is in the size of the frame…
The skinnier the better!
Hanging
A simple, thin frame on a mirror lends to it a classic, but modern feel. It isn’t overly ornate or fussy, but perfect in its simplicity.
Square
I have big plans for these pretty little mirrors in our home and I can’t wait to start shopping around to find the perfect mirror for our next project.
Oval
In the meantime, here are a few of my favorite gold-framed mirrors in some of the most popular shapes and styles.
Do you have a favorite?
