Good morning, friends! We are so happy to have you joining us again this year for the Simply Summer Home Tour, hosted by my lovely friend, Nina of Nina Hendrick. These home tours are always my favorite part of each season, I simply love soaking in all of the unique beauty of everyone’s gorgeous homes. There is so much inspiration to be had.
We’ve already shared our mudroom and kitchen pared down for our easy-going summer routine, so today we are sharing our living room and a little peek into our dining room. Just like the rest of our home, I didn’t do a lot in terms of decorating. Instead, I chose to strip a few layers away in anticipation for the summer ahead.
I find we bring in so many different layers and elements during the fall and winter seasons that come spring and summer it’s so refreshing to scale back. Keeping only the essentials, like a couple pillows in fun patterns and vases of fresh flowers help to keep our space feeling light and open.
Mini potted ferns and ivy are simple and low-maintenance, but still, add a pop of vibrant color and life. I would love to bring in a large potted tree, like an olive or fiddle leaf fig, but I’m still perfecting my green thumb and until I know it will thrive I don’t want to risk another dead houseplant on my hands. 🙂
Each season I like to bring in one or two new pieces to keep things from feeling stale, like these beautiful table lamps. I have been searching for months on end for new lamps to replace our existing glass ones. I hadn’t been able to find any until these unique ones caught my eye. I love the simple shape of the slightly rounded bases and I can’t get enough of the fun petal-like texture. They are much taller than our previous lamps and I love how the added height draws your eye up towards our gallery wall.
Our coffee table is also fairly new, although you may have seen it here first. Nick built this amazing printmaker’s coffee table because we were craving more storage space, and it’s been perfect for hiding away extra toys, books, pillows, and throws. We just recently shared the free plans (you can get them here).
If you didn’t notice from my furry little models, our living room is the perfect place for lazy afternoon naps when the heat is just too much. Don’t these two look too cute? They love following me around and I don’t have the heart to move them for photos. 😉
A little glimpse into our dining room will show you how a few simple accessories can create a relaxed feeling to last all summer long. A simple hand carved wooden tray topped with a vase of hydrangeas makes the perfect centerpiece..it’s inexpensive, simple and easy to move when setting the table for dinner every evening.
These wicker armchairs are also new. We bought them for our front porch, but I had to play with them inside for a bit first. I’m still torn on where they look best, but I think I will stick to my original plan. We need a cozy place to sit each morning in the sunshine.
Well, I hope you enjoyed today’s tour, and please take a few minutes (or hours!) to browse all of the amazing tours from my friends throughout the week. You can catch them all below.

Always love your tours Alicia! Beautiful! We’ve been eyeing up that cabinet in your dining area for over a year now but not sure it’ll fit in our space! I love how it looks in your home! Xo

Thank you, sweet friend! It’s a nice piece and we love it! I also think it would be so perfect in a bathroom as a makeshift linen closet. 🙂
