Today brings with it another round of beautiful fall home tours as we join House by Hoff and The Happy Housie for the Seasonal Simplicity Fall Tour. There are so many beautiful homes in this group of talented bloggers so please make sure you take a few minutes to see each of them at the end of our post.
Last week, we shared our living room with a few subtle fall touches as well as a very easy fall tablescape. Earlier this month we also shared our fall front porch (a space we’ve never shared before!), and today we are welcoming you into our kitchen and mudroom.
Our kitchen is a space that has evolved and grown with us as a family, it’s a place we always seem to be making changes – both for practicality and appearance. My favorite change to our kitchen is definitely these beautiful built-in nooks with floating desks that Nick built for us.
I always enjoy styling these shelves, it’s such an easy way to change the look of our kitchen. This fall, I made minimal changes (you can see them in our summer home tour) because I love their simplicity and neutral palette.
A few pots of trailing ivy give a bit of color and interest against the whites, creams and warm wood tones and textures throughout. I added these beautiful African bone beads, which are such a fun little treasure to display. You may also recognize that pretty watercolor painting in the large gold frame, you can download it here. I love the addition of art to a kitchen, it’s an easy way to elevate the space and make it feel a little more homey.
GET THE LOOK
Every fall I pick up a bouquet of cheerful sunflowers. They are so bright and sunny, I can’t help by smile when I see them. I placed them in a simple white pitcher on our island for an easy centerpiece.
Once the crispness of autumn is in the air I like to make sure our home is full of candles to help give it that cozy glow in the evenings.
You can see our little mudroom peaking out of the corner there, but I’ll give you a closer look at it as it’s always one of my favorite spaces to style each season. You’ll never believe how this space used to look, you can see it here if you haven’t already.
I kept things very simple and neutral in here this year, unlike last season. It’s still been so warm here that we haven’t needed jackets in the evening, so it’s easy to keep this little area looking neat and tidy.
I always keep a couple of beautiful pillows on this bench to add a bit of pattern and interest and love changing them out seasonally. This fall I added another pillow from one of my favorite sources. It’s made from a Chinese wedding blanket and features a delicate floral-like pattern in shades of grey and cream (you can find it here).
An oval mirror adds some warmth to this white space, and I just love the unique shape of it. I always like to keep a mirror in this space to catch a quick glimpse before heading out the door, plus it makes the area feel more like a room rather than a closet.
I’m enjoying out little mudroom like this before it fills up with winter jackets, scarves and mittens, it won’t be long now. But I am also eager to decorate it for the Christmas season (take a peek at it last year).
Well, I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into our kitchen and mudroom for the fall season. We’ve loved having you here and I hope you’ll take a few minutes to enjoy these other tours…
