Mini white pumpkins and black crows are a simple way to add a touch of Halloween to your home. Get inspired and celebrate Halloween with 25+ easy decorating ideas.
I’ve never been one to really embrace Halloween. As a kid, I loved it, because really, what child doesn’t love dressing up and collecting heaps of candy from their neighbors? But as an adult, it was never really my thing. That is until we had children of our own.
This year our oldest is three and a half and fully loving the idea of Halloween. She has been asking every day for the past week if we can decorate our home to celebrate the spooky holiday. And when it comes to our children their excitement and joy always passes onto us and we find ourselves doing just about anything to keep that joy alive.
So this year we broke out the Halloween decor, and even though we are starting simple, it has been a lot of fun to add a little touch of Halloween fright to our home.
As I said, we started small this year, with just a few easy additions, but some of my friends go all out (and it’s completely amazing!), so be sure to check out all of the spectacular Halloween ideas at the end of today’s post.
I started where I always start with the changing of the seasons or a new holiday, our kitchen nook. It is my favorite little corner of our home to decorate and style, and if you’re interested you can learn more about how I style my shelves here.
The first change I made was to remove our greenery, I wanted to keep this area looking fairly monochromatic by using only black and white. That was pretty easy, as white is my color. Although I did leave a woven basket and vintage cutting board here to add just a little bit of texture and tie in with the natural wood of the desk and chair.
Next, I layered in these three crows as a nod to Halloween. I picked these up at our dollar store, so they were very inexpensive, but I love how they feel a little bit playful and whimsical. I don’t like anything too gory or gruesome. I also added a few small white pumpkins, because, Halloween isn’t Halloween without pumpkins!
It’s a little hard to see, but the last touch I added was a black and white print of birds. I thought it was a fun way to tie in the crows. I simply purchased it here, downloaded and printed – easy!
Speaking of easy, this entire nook took about 10 minutes to style. So even if you feel like you don’t have the time or energy to decorate for Halloween, I promise you can do it! I actually had so much fun with this little set-up that next year I plan to add a few more eerie touches throughout our house.
