It’s time to transition our homes from the laid-back days of summer to the warm and inviting spaces we crave during the colder months. As the days begin to shorten and the leaves begin to turn, I take time to layer in a few new pieces that reflect the changing seasons.
I usually start by incorporating a rich colour palette through the addition of a new throw, pillows, or fall foliage. These are pieces that can easily be swapped out as the seasons change again. This year I’m drawn to the deep burgundies and golden hues found throughout nature this time of year.
Textural pieces, like woven baskets or antique ceramics, are another simple way to infuse the feeling of fall throughout your home. These classic pieces add warmth and interest to shelves and tabletops.
And of course, the easiest and most traditional pieces are a seasonal wreath hung on the front door, along with mums and a few heirloom pumpkins. These are a must for any home in my opinion.
Transitioning your home from summer to fall doesn’t have to be overwhelming or expensive, choose two or three pieces that reflect the season and can easily carry through the winter months.
